My greatest hope for the AppleTV is that it gets to ride on all the technologies being developed for the iSlate.

The basics is a cheaper (cooler) ARM processor, and AppleTV versions of every app that comes with the iPhone. But it'd also be nice to have an online store, and an upgraded iPhone SDK to allow apps to compile for iPhone/iSlate/aTV.

On a different angle, perhaps the best AppleTV shot in the arm would be releasing making AppleTV a software option on iPhone/iSlate/Mac/Windows/hardware. Build it by removing the TV/Movie parts of iTunes and removing Frontrow. Suddenly "AppleTV" becomes a raging success as it's everywhere.... including on its own hardware at your TV.
